FREE CLOCS site compliance monitoring visits
Champions are urged to have their sites confidentially assessed for compliance against the CLOCS National Standard. Some of the first companies expressing interest in the first free monitoring visits include Tideway, Aspen Build, Morgan Sindall, Neilcott, Mullalley, Avondale Construction, Higgins Construction, Thames Water and Volkerwessels, Durkan.

The CLOCS site compliance monitoring visits help companies confidentially understand how well they are doing and to identify any areas they could improve upon. For more details, including a copy of the Checklist, please click here.s We have produced a guide to assist you with preparation of your visit which is available here.

Champions should nominate sites to be visited – first 2 visits are FREE for the first 50 companies, thereafter the cost is £175 when combined with a Considerate Constructors Scheme site review.

Seven questions Mace ask at the site gate.
As part of its CLOCS grant funding, London Cycling Campaign is working with CLOCS Champions to produce case studies to help others with implementation.  The following questions have been developed by Mace as part of their everyday site gate checks.

1. Do you have proof of quality certification (FORS or Equivalent)?
2. Have you been provided with a traffic routing plan to this site by your employer?
3. Do you have means of recording accidents?
4. Is your vehicle equipped with an enhanced audible warning system?
5. Does your vehicle have cycle warning signage on the rear of the vehicle?

6. Is your vehicle equipped with side under-run protection?
7. Is your vehicle equipped with a blind-spot minimisation system (such as class VI mirrors, Fresnel lens or cameras)?

Site operator good practice – Delivery Management Systems

One of the discussions at the recent working group meeting included the use of Delivery Management Systems (DMS) as the primary interface between site operators and fleet operations and perhaps the opportunity to inform vehicle driver checks by traffic marshals.  DMS can be used to:

  • Discharge planning conditions
  • Meet client requirements within bid/tender documents
  • Provide control over what is coming to site and when
  • Manage risk in respect of accidents/incidents

Table discussions identified broad support of such systems of which there are number of different versions currently used by CLOCS Champions:

  • Datascope
  • ADBM - Alandale Logistics
  • iCL:ik - Clipfine
  • Juggler - Laing O’Rourke
  • Delivery Management System - Munnelly Logistics
  • Fulcrum - Wilson James

Free FORS Webinars

An 'Introduction to FORS' webinar will help you understand the basics of the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).  It will demonstrate how the scheme works and how FORS can improve operations throughout the supply chain.  Scheduled to run monthly until May 2018, these one hour lunchtime sessions will offer an opportunity to ask questions, and any queries that are not answered live will be responded to by email once the session ends.
